Pre-Move Excitement

It’s the night before the big move to our new home in South Austin, and no one – least of all baby – is showing any signs of being ready for bed, though the hour is getting late. I told our little angel that today was our last day here, and, though she gave every sign of not understanding a word I was saying, her excitement tonight seems more than a mere reflection of her mother’s and my nervous energy. Who knows? Tomorrow, after a long day of packing, stacking, cleaning (and unpacking on the other end), we’ll bring baby trick-or-treating for the first time. The new neighborhood has a lot more kids in it than where we’ve been renting, and I hope that proves to be a good thing tomorrow night – and beyond.

The only room we paid to have painted at the new place is the little one’s, a subtly two-tone pink that I think she’ll like. And now may the good Lord let us sleep.
