Buddha Gets Sick

Baby’s first case of jet lag turned out to be a cold, or something like it, which we learned this morning when she woke with a fever of 101 degrees. A dry cough, which we’d noticed but not thought much about yesterday, suddenly seemed more menacing. She has been “pre-teething” for quite some time. Is this the real thing? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, we get to deal with our first serious case of parental jitters around the issue of baby’s health. The most heartbreaking part, by far, is seeing her good natured optimism coexisting with her suffering; when light shines from her eyes, it does so through more opaque glass than before.

My one great wish: To be sick for her.
