Like a Big Girl

After days of cold rain, the weather turned today to brilliant sun and real warmth – even at the beach. Baby rode in her sling along the water’s edge with daddy for a 20-minute walk and then made a trip to the park where, truth be told, it was a little too bright and a little too warm to be relaxing. She gamely rode the baby swing for a couple of minutes, took a few trips down a couple of different slides, and even practiced walking in the her pink high tops on the tanbark, but then we retreated to the cool comfort of home.

I’d read that setting up furniture in a circle for her to practice walking is a good idea, so I put some chairs together in the kitchen. She immediately got the idea, and smiled and laughed in gratitude, before circulating “like a big girl” in her newfound realm.

She napped draped on my chest again at the end of the day.
