Speaking of Teeth

Nubs of baby’s teeth have been palpable through gum for at least eight weeks. We would notice she was in distress, apply (homeopathic) teething gel, and feel the hard points of thinly veiled teeth on our fingertips – and wonder how long a process teething actually was. (The books say off and on for two years-plus.) At any rate, both mama and daddy felt harder nubs today – one was on top and the other on the bottom – and it can’t be long before these first teeth can be seen and not just felt. Simultaneously, baby is vocalizing what seems like an amazing amount. And, though baby has yet to utter the magic sounds of “Dada,” tonight my wife swore the little one said my name, clearly, when told it was time for the two of them to come downstairs to wish me goodnight. If she can say “Harold,” how far off can daddy be?
