A Good Five Minutes
Baby and mommy were at the grandparents today. I took advantage of the empty house to schedule a music rehearsal; when it was done, I found myself at loose ends and went surfing – Lyme-disease weakened and all. The rehearsal went well; the surfing went well enough (it’s humbling to be weak, out of shape, and out of sync); but my loneliness got the better of me when it was time for me to eat my dinner and I flipped on the television. What darkness there lurks! At last, my wife and baby returned, and we had our most satisfying reunion yet. Baby was very glad to be with daddy, very glad to be home. She laughed and smiled and talked. You never know when you’re going to have the best day of your life in five minutes.
