Afternoon Repose

There was no afternoon nap today. Baby went to the store, went to the park, came home, ate a couple of dozen cheerios (as well as some other food), played with the remote control (with the batteries out), practiced standing and moving from one piece of furniture to another, laughed to her mom on speaker phone, let me put teething gel on her gums, watched some World Cup soccer, drank a few bottles of breast milk, stood holding my pant leg while I made lasagna, and played contentedly with a wet wash cloth – but she did not nap. She was a good sport about not sleeping; if her gums hadn’t been bothering her, I’m sure she would have enjoyed her usual afternoon repose.
