Changing of the Garments

Baby is growing out of cute outfit after cute outfit at such a rate that, if I weren’t careful, it could all easily start to blur. As a brief aside, allow me to say how unbelievably generous a wide range of people have been toward our family, specifically in terms of clothing for our bundle of joy, but also more generally with attentiveness, interest, and compassion. It’s almost enough to make one wonder why the world isn’t similarly warm to non-parents. All such thoughts aside, the warmth has been welcome.

The outfit baby outgrew, today, was a collared “onesy” underneath pink corduroy overalls. The last two times she wore the overalls before today they were straining at the snaps whenever she wiggled or bent at the waist; occasionally, a snap would come undone. Today the snaps came undone early and often, and were re-snapped early and often, but it was a losing battle. Even baby’s mom left the snaps undone as the evening wore on tonight. The outfit was a beautiful gift from my sister and her daughter, and we will be sorry to see it depart from our day-to-day life.
