Pointing the Way

Baby has acquired a new habit: pointing to objects she would like to have brought to her and places where she would like to be followed or, at least, allowed to go. Among the things she has pointed to are a sippy cup, a piece of food, a book, another book, the first book again, and a toy. Among the places she has indicated she would like to be followed are the familial living quarters in our rental home, a.k.a. the master bedroom, where she likes to play with toys and whatever else happens to be on the floor; the screen porch, whence she likes to observe the dogs on their forays into the yard to do their business; and the kitchen, where she likes to play with the dogs’ bowls and, if she’s really lucky, the open dishwasher. A few weeks ago, I had no idea that a little finger would tell me to do so much, or that doing it would make me so happy.
