Assault on Everest

At church yesterday, with her mother hovering inches away, baby climbed six of the stairs leading to the choir loft. Today, with daddy hovering inches away, baby went from the bottom of the staircase in our home to the top. Once there, she surveyed the scene like a mountaineer glad to have finished a difficult ascent. That her efforts had taken her somewhere so different from where she started was revolutionary – as evidenced by her repeated efforts to duplicate the feat as the day wore on. I am, inevitably, proud of her, and happy for her, and I have a new reason to follow her around the house.
