In the Game

There was a lot of fear before becoming a father that I would not be up to the job. I am. Fear continues to surround me – that I won’t earn enough money, that all my efforts to sow a life of happiness for my daughter won’t prevent sorrow from finding her, that I’ll choose not to provide her with siblings when they’re just what she needed, that I’ll choose to provide her with siblings when being an only child was exactly the right thing for her – but, in the overall sense, I am up to the job of being a father. Big-time. And I am grateful to be in the game.
