Food for Thought

New food of the day: sweet potatoes. Baby’s rating (out of 10): 10. Average rating of foodstuffs so far: 10. Which brings me to the subject of what’s edible. I’ve assumed baby would eat everything I ate as a child, when it was developmentally appropriate. My wife, who abstains from pork and lamb, has assumed that baby would abstain from eating pork and lamb. The latter, which I eat roughly once every two years, isn’t something I’m willing to argue for. Bacon, on the other hand, possesses positive memories from childhood that are meaningful to me. (If I’m completely honest, I have to admit that even lamb connotes carefully prepared meals my grandmother served me on my solo visits to her home in San Diego as a boy, and thus is a food I’m loathe to permanently let go of.) It’s amazing how many emotions are connected to what we eat.
