Growing Up Some More

Baby has yet to crawl, per se, but her efforts in that department are such that discussions between mom and dad (and grandma and grandpa) have centered of late on baby-proofing our home. Stashing every item small enough to fit in baby’s mouth – including all daddy’s guitar picks, the loose change he lets sit on his desk, and the wood chips around the firewood basket – will be a significant part of the challenge. Before the moon has gone through another cycle, we will also have covered electrical outlets, secured cupboard doors and certain drawers, and stowed various items leaning against walls –surfboards, skateboards, hockey sticks, for a start – somewhere that a stray touch won’t send them crashing down to the floor and whoever’s on it. Time to up-tick the responsibility meter another notch, in short.
