What Big Teeth You Have

Baby has been sinking her teeth into her mom, and sometimes me, on an increasingly frequent basis. It hurts. When she bites her mom in the way that nursing babies have been known to do it hurts in a way that I probably cannot imagine. We want to believe, and generally do believe, that our little muffin is expressing teething pain by biting everything in site, or that she is coming into intellectual understanding of what her teeth can do by trial and error. Whether my wife will bridge over to the other side of baby's learning curve while still breast-feeding is an open question. Some women, reasonably enough, would have thrown in the towel by now. The fact that my wife is choosing to tough it out, as of tonight, makes me a little sad on her behalf -- and enormously proud.
