When Home Economics Hurts
My ambition to save money and cook good food – while being super dad – got the better of me today. I bought, stuffed, and roasted a turkey; cooked the side dishes; and kept baby from having any serious meltdowns all the while. It was among the most stressful days of my life. The supermarket deal I’d seen advertised online was on frozen turkeys, not fresh. But I’d committed to my wife that we’d be able to entertain with turkey tonight, so I bought the one fresh turkey the store had – an 18-pounder. In the end, we’re entertaining with leftovers tomorrow night; perhaps then I’ll be glad for the effort I made today. Right now, the only thing that may rescue my night is to go kiss the baby. So, with that, I think I’ll close.
