Old White Phone

There’s an old-fashioned white phone in mom and dad’s bedroom that baby loves to play with. It is usually unplugged (occasionally we’ll plug it in to the wall to use), and baby likes to sit up on mom and dad’s bed with the base of the phone in her lap and the receiver in her hand. She twists the cord and holds the receiver at different angles and stares at it for twenty minutes at a time, as though this is by far the best use of a telephone. And, of course, she’s right.
