Now You

Today baby reached out for her daddy in a way she only had before for her mommy. Her mommy obligingly handed her over to me, and I nestled her a moment before she saw whom she’d left behind – mommy. At that point, the little angel reached out for mommy again. Mommy nestled her for a moment, and baby suddenly saw whom she’d left behind this time – daddy – and reached out for me again. Though it may have appeared like a separation-anxiety merry-go-round, it felt like a love fest. And I will never forget those arms reaching for me, in that way, for the first time.
