A Long Time Already

Baby is content to sit in her high chair during meals, until she’s not. When she has had all the fun she can have perched in her seat three feet above the floor, I put her in my lap. When she has enjoyed being in daddy’s lap as much as she can, I lower her slowly toward the floor until her feet touch and she takes her own weight. She’ll usually have a couple of extra bites of food while in my lap and anywhere from three to ten extra bites while walking around the dining room.

When she is in her chair, she allows her parents to feed her – stereophonically. Mom feeds her from a spoon, and takes care to show baby how to use her little plastic fork like a big girl. I frequently feed her with my fingers, which I suddenly realized a while back is a lot more fun. Baby likes to take sips of water between bites of food, and she likes to feed the dog from her tray. She is especially herself in her lofty position, and I will miss looking at her eye-to-eye the way we have for what seems a long time already.
