Narragansett Electric

It’s pretty great to hold baby in your arms. Yes, she wiggles a lot. Yes, if you want her to stay there very long you better plan on entertaining her with a book or a toy. Burping her can be distraction enough to keep her from wiggling for a moment or two. It’s fun, when holding the bundle of warm joy, to smell her (a combination of mom’s scent and her own), and it’s fun to squeeze her feet. As I’ve said elsewhere, it’s fun to listen to her, too.

A special treat, though, is to share glances with baby when she’s in mommy’s arms. Partly it must be that she can more easily see daddy when he’s not so close. Partly it must be that being held by her mommy let’s her feel safe enough and happy enough to smile with her 100-watt bulb – as though she owns Narragansett Electric.
