Accentuating the Positive

Baby doesn't worry about taxes, bills, mortgage payments, insurance, car payments, or much else in the material sphere. But that doesn't mean her life is easy. Gravity remains super-sized for her small form, resisting her efforts to get around effortlessly the way her parents and even the family dogs seem to do. Whenever she finds something really interesting to examine or play with, mom or dad picks her up and puts her someplace else. She knows what she wants to say, and why, but the words don't come out right. People babble back to her, as if her speech were only so many randomly associated sounds. She cannot call any friends to gripe, or rejoice. She doesn't get to choose what she eats or what to wear or when to go outside, or where she's going if she gets to go outside. In short, she is nearly completely powerless in a world of very powerful beings. And yet, despite the constant challenges, she is amiable, connected, and wise just about all of the time. She is the most incredible person I have ever met.
