Happy, Wise, Safe, and Sleeping

Mom and dad went out tonight, without baby, for the second time since baby was born. We went to listen to a writer give a reading with my cousin and her husband, leaving our baby and theirs with two babysitters, and setting the cell phones to vibrate. Dinner was good; we didn’t call to check on baby between the restaurant and the performance and the sitter didn’t call us. (My wife believes that giving a sitter a sense of trust is a positive thing.) The performance was good, too, in Austin’s beautiful Paramount Theater. When we returned to baby central at my cousin’s house, both bundles of joy had fallen asleep. Baby looked like a happy, wise, safe, sleeping child. We have successfully transported her home, and now she is a happy, wise, safe, sleeping child at home.
