Glad to Be There

The family made a trip to an organic garden supply store today, and while there baby made her first foray into a butterfly garden. A variety of flowering plants, including a couple of species of sage, bordered a figure-eight stone path and drew several dozen butterflies down to earth. Most were Monarchs taking a breather from their transit down to Mexico. The plants were mostly about two and a half feet high, which meant that the butterflies congregated at eye level to baby. At the behest of my wife, I crouched down to take in the scene from baby’s perspective and it was pretty thrilling. She had just woken from a nap when we brought her into the flying wonderland; I’m not sure if she was sure if the nap was over or not. Either way, her eyes took in some of nature’s most beautiful creations and I was glad to be there when it happened.
