Eight Steps

Baby slept through the doorbell ringing on two separate occasions, as well as the attendant dog barking, during her afternoon nap today. She had been to the office for mom's last day of work, to lunch with her mom's closest work friend, to coffee with her dad while he said goodbye to an important mentor in his life, and evidently needed her nap badly. Nonetheless, it was the first time she had ever slept through the drama of a visitor arriving, and I went upstairs to check that she was breathing just in case. Before we left the house this morning, she grabbed the remote control and the cordless phone and took eight steps toward her daddy holding them in her hands.
